Summary
Family allowances are monthly supplements to your income allowing you to compensate for family expenses.
Your child is entitled to family allowances without conditions until August 31 of the calendar year in which he or she reaches the age of 18 (end of compulsory schooling). From September of the year in which he reaches this age, he must meet certain conditions to continue receiving his family allowances until he reaches the age of 25 at the latest.
Key points
- The child's domicile determines the competent region and the amounts applied.
- Payment of allowances is not automatic, you must apply to a family allowance fund (Famiwal, Parentia, Camille, Kidslife or Infino)
- Supplements may be granted depending on the child's age, household income, family composition and/or any disability.
- The conditions for granting may vary depending on whether the child was born before or after January 1, 2001 due to regionalization.
