As in the case of a birth, an adoption also gives the right to a bonus: the adoption bonus.
Regardless of your status, you can apply for this single bonus provided that a request has been filed with the competent court or, failing that, that a signed adoption certificate has been drawn up. The child must also be part of the adoptive parent's household and be eligible for family allowances.

The adoption bonus is paid to the adopter.
If the spouses or cohabitants, within the meaning of Article 343 of the Civil Code, have adopted the child together, the premium is paid to:

the adopter, if the partners are of different sexes;
the eldest of the spouses or cohabitants, if the partners are of the same sex.

Procedure

How to apply for an adoption bonus?

The applicant submits the application for the adoption bonus to the family allowance fund on which he depends or to the fund of his choice, if he does not already have one.

When to apply for an adoption bonus?

The child is under 18 years of age: an adoption bonus may be granted unconditionally to the child until August 31 of the calendar year in which he or she reaches the age of 18;
The child with a disability is under 21 years old: the adoption bonus may be paid unconditionally until the end of the month in which he or she reaches the age of 21;
The child is between 18 and 25 years old: until the end of the month in which the child reaches the age of 25, other conditions will be verified when the child is studying, in training or registered as a young job seeker.

The adoption bonus must be requested within five years of adoption.
