Summary
The organisation of funfairs and similar activities on public fairgrounds is governed by a by-law. This by-law establishes the places, dates and times of the event, as well as the plan of all the pitches, what they specialise in and what their technical specifications are.
Pitches on fairgrounds are allocated either for the duration of a particular fair or on a subscription basis.
In detail
Applications to occupy a pitch must therefore be made by completing a form and sending it, along with any relevant documents, directly to the municipality in which the funfair or circus is taking place.
Costs
There are two types of costs: a fee and a tax.
A fee is payable following the occupation of the pitch on a municipal public road. The fee amount is calculated according to the number of square metres and ideally per day it is occupied.
This fee does not preclude an operating tax being applied, which is an indirect tax. The recommended maximum rate for this tax is EUR 4.50/m²/day.
The available payment methods may differ depending on the municipality: cash, card, bank transfer, or electronic payment if the municipality has an e-counter.
Deadlines
You must apply several days/weeks before the desired date. Contact the municipality concerned to find out the exact timeframe.
