Key points
Which training centres can be accredited?
To obtain accreditation, a training centre must meet the following conditions:
- be able to organise training and examinations;
- be able to organise continuing training;
- have qualified teaching staff*;
- have the technical equipment necessary for the smooth running of training courses and examinations;
- not have been subject, within the three years prior to submitting an application for accreditation, to a decision to withdraw accreditation.
* ‘Qualified teaching staff’ refers to teaching staff who have held, for at least two years:
- accreditation as a BEP certifier of residential units*;
- AND accreditation as an auditor to carry out energy audits in the housing sector, with this accreditation having been obtained in accordance with the Order of the Walloon Government of 4 April 2019 on the housing audit;
- and who have not been subject, less than three years prior to their appointment as a trainer, to a sanction under the applicable decrees and regulations concerning the energy performance of buildings.
Who can participate in BEP certifier training courses and examinations?
Only individuals whose application for accreditation has been previously approved by the administration and whose list is regularly communicated to accredited training centres may participate in training courses and examinations.
What are the obligations of an accredited centre?
The accredited centre must use the training materials made available to it by the administration.
It must organises training courses and examinations in accordance with Article 57 and Article 58(2) and (3) of the Order of the Walloon Government of 15 May 2014.
At least 15 days before the start of the courses and examinations, the centre must inform the administration of the dates of those courses and examinations. The centre must confirm to registered candidates the practical details (dates, venues, registration fees, logistical and administrative aspects) relating to the training courses and examinations. It must provide registered candidates with all the materials necessary for the smooth running of the training course.
Within 15 days of the examination, the centre must issue training attendance certificates and examination results to those candidates who have completed all of the training.
Within 30 days of the training or examination session, the centre must submit to the administration a report signed by a person in charge of the accredited centre, containing:
- the list of candidates who attended the training courses and, where appropriate, passed the examination;
- the attendance rate for each person enrolled in the training course;
- the list of the members of the examination board who attended the examinations; and
- the marks obtained by the candidates in the various parts of the examination, and the calculated average of these different tests.
The accredited centre must notify the administration immediately of any changes affecting it that may have an impact on its accreditation.

The application for accreditation must be submitted by letter or delivered against receipt to the administration using the accreditation application form, duly completed and signed.

The Minister will grant or refuse accreditation within 40 days of notification of receipt of the complete file.
If accreditation is granted, the centre will be assigned an accreditation number.

Within 10 days of receiving the form, the administration will send an acknowledgement of receipt, stating the date on which the form was received, the deadline within which the decision must be made, the available remedies and the competent bodies. In addition, any information missing from the application will be requested.
