Finding out about burial options

Summary

The deceased may choose one of the following options:

1. Burial of the remains in a vault (with the granting of a concession) or in the ground (with or without a concession);
2. Cremation, followed by burial of the ashes within the cemetery;
3. Cremation, followed by scattering of the ashes on the cemetery plot that has been designated for this purpose;
4. Cremation, followed by placement of the ashes in the cemetery's columbarium;
5. Cremation, followed by scattering of the ashes in the Belgian territorial sea;
6. Cremation, followed by scattering of the ashes somewhere other than the cemetery or the territorial sea ;
7. Cremation, followed by burial of the ashes somewhere other than the cemetery;
8. Cremation, followed by storage of the ashes somewhere other than the cemetery;
