The Region is also active within the Council of Europe. It participates in the Conferences of specialized Ministers and in the Steering Committees in line with its powers (health, social policy, population and migration, local authorities, heritage, the environment, etc.). It is also involved in the missions of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe (the CLRAE).

The Council of Europe is an intergovernmental organization made up of 44 Member States. Its main responsibilities are defence, human rights and pluralist democracy, finding solutions to problems of society, preserving the quality of life of Europeans and giving assistance to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

In general, Wallonia seeks to help improve the application of the principle of subsidiarity and to ensure a level of integration that enhances the role of the Regions, in particular in relations between cross-border zones
